'Warm' Foggy Fields - Does this work?

I've already posted the black and white version on the forum, but I wanted to try something a little more unusual with the editing. Does this type of colour conversion work, am I being a bit daft?

The colour banding looks a bit obvious here, but the larger image on Flickr doesn't look so bad.

Gives it a yellowish sun shine look to the image as if the sun is trying to break through the fog.

I really like this. Though for my taste I'd probably crop a little off the top of the sky to loose the bright bit. However I love the colour and could spend quite a while looking into the picture, at the roll of the hills and shadows. Peaceful yet thought provoking. Really good job.

Nice and interesting - reminds me of an African Dawn.

Thanks all, I'll try a crop as Sandra suggested.

Nice Picture like Sandra said the bright bit in the top middle draws your attention away from what is a cracking picture

Andy for me the colours work but I feel it needs the top removing to make it more of a letterbox shape, I find the bright sky detracting and not adding much if anything to the image. As you say it looks better in the larger format on Flickr with the black background but I feel even there it is better without the bright sky.

Thanks again, I've cropped it a little and added a border. Any better?

May I suggest a black border? Makes the colour set a little more imho.

Already deleted from the computer, I'll remove from here if you want -

I really like it Andy. What software are you using? I am finding the split toning on LR4 pretty good right now...

Just tried posting a black border version too, but getting the dreaded 503 again.

Richard, I used Machinery Effects 2, I think it's fantastic value at only £25!

Like the crop (even if I do say so myself ;0) ) Good job! I personally wouldn't go too heavy with the border, as it could over power the image. Could just be my taste though.
