    Watermelon

Was cutting up some fruit today and tasted the Watermelon. It was so sweet and delicious that I thought I should try and create an image that might covey the desire to have a slice.

All images were taken w/EOS-M w/EF-M 22mm f/2 STM w/off camera flash set to 1/64 power
    1/100 sec @ f/3.5, ISO 100

    So how successful where these?

And of course for those who like BW images of food:

    I didn't for get you

        Re: Watermelon

        Tom. Honest feedback.

Not knowing what you were going for... but #1 is a 'no', as the only part of the Melon in focus is the middle of the bit on the right, so there's no main interest point. Too much of #1 is OOF for me, whereas #2 is OK but too much is in focus! Strange, but that's as I see it.

#3, well, with colours so varied as a watermelon, I'm not sure why you'd want to have B&W, but if you like your fruit B&W, #3 is the best of the bunch.

        Hope that helps!?

        All the best, Mike.

the dof is much too narrow in the first but the second and third both in colour and B & W work much better

              Re: Watermelon

I like the juice flowing in the centre of #2. I wonder though if the cut surface LHS is starting to dry out & lose the "lusciousness".

Thanks Stan & Russell for the feedback. That would be fast, as I took these right after I cut them.

I find that No 2 works very well, it has good colour, texture and detail and nice DOF. It looks very edible even though I'm not a fan of Watermelon. I actually want to eat it!

                    Re: Watermelon

I quite like #2 just the colour of the melon seems a little desaturated on the left hand side.
I also like the mono version but would have not chopped the grapes at the bottom.
