Are you logging out of the forum when you leave? If you are then you will need to log back in when you return. The remember me function only works when you don't log out from the forum. It will remember you if you close the browser window or go to another website, then return to the forum.
If it's still not working, check your browser settings and make sure that your browser isn't set to delete cookies when you close it (this could be causing the problem). If you're not sure how to do this let me know which browser you're using and I will find instructions (alternatively, search on Google).

Re: whats happened?
Robert and Andrew,
I'm not having a signal problem since its conception - using firefox - layout is a tad different, so have to look a bit harder for some functions, but then I have recently switched to Windows Word 2007 from 2003 and the layout there is also different - but I like using it! So this is simply not a problem!!!
I guess you have to 'upgrade' anyway- especially as Canon keeps upgrading - must keep up with the trend!Richard
Think before you press the shutter button!

Thanks for your prompt reply.
No I'm not logging out of the forum.
I'm using IE8. Checked cookie settings were set to accept most cookies and other forums I go on automatically log me in so they are writing cookies ok. I dropped my setting to allow all cookies from all websites but still didn't work so I deleted all cookies (hate doing that as have to log in every where again !!) in case the eos cookie file was corrupt. Now it's more bizarre, when I go to forum either via my bookmark or by going to http://www.eos-magazine.com/ and using the link from the menu I get a page saying:-
Message
DuncanH, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
Log Out Home
If I click on "Home" I then go to the forum main page and I'm logged in. Fixed the log-in problem and found another - isn't that computing for you !!
Don't worry about it unless you know the problem, I would think it's my end somewhere (flipping microsoft) and will play another time, I can access the forum ok just with an extra click.
Thanks again, DuncanDuncan Harris

Re: whats happened?
Hi Andrew
Thought I'd have one more look and found the problem.
My book mark was "http://www.eos-magazine-forum.com/index.php" and the menu link from the EOS Magazine is "http://www.eos-magazine-forum.com/" - Both of those take me to error page above.
When I click on "Home" from error page it took me to "http://www.eos-magazine-forum.com/forum.php?". So now set that url as my bookmark and all is - straight to the main forum page and already logged in - job done !!!
I do like a challenge but why so many ??
CheersDuncan Harris

Re: whats happened?
Hi Duncan, I'm glad you figured it out. I'm sure you're not the only person who has experienced this, and now we know the solution.Andrew

Re: whats happened?
Andrew, the problem that Duncan was having is due to failure to comply with W3C standards, if you don't have an index page you should use a 300 re-direct to take people to the correct place not give them an incorrect error message which is what is happening now. Not your fault I suspect but the forum / theme authors. The other reason for the cookies issue is that with most themes set their own cookies so that if you change the theme at the backend the next time that the user tries to login the cookie is incorrect and so the user has to login again. Hope this helps

Re: whats happened?
Now when I go to the forum I start off with a message telling me that I am not authorised to view the forum but if I click on Latest Posts the forum comes up as normal.
What is happening please?
