    Chuffin Trains

Had a trip out this morning to see if I could get some reasonable steam train images. This week it's the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) Gala Week. This is the first run that I saw from a location that I have visited before and the train was on time.

Both are very nice images Peter, but image 1 is a standout. The way you framed the track the train just exiting the bridge. the steam rising into the sky it just a well composed image. The only tweaking I would do is to burn the LHS a bit.

I agree with Tom, Number 1 is very good, being down at track level makes all the difference.

#1 is a super shot, though I agree that correcting the LHS would help. I'm also a little puzzled by the colour of the upper brickwork on the bridge. Has it been repaired or something? It seems so different from the surrounding brickwork and the wall and draws the eye away from the main image.

#1 for me, you can't beat being down low, and really excellent composition.

Number 1 for me also. Great shot at eye level and the engine working hard.

Hi Russell thanks for your comments
Il have attached my set up image which was taken to check my settings prior to the train arriving. No post processing with this image apart from a crop and resize for posting here that is.

The colour of the brickwork I suspect is caused by a combination of the weather and the train exhaust (if that's the correct term)

No 1 for me also, the lines to lead-in, the train sitting over the thirds, an almost perfect composition.
