    1D Mark IV metering query

Can someone please advise whether the 1D Mark IV uses Canon's iFCL metering. My understanding is that the 1D IV does not, whereas my Eos 600D does. Many thanks.

Not that I am aware of. The following is Canon's current crop of iFCL metering bodies, but as an older article, it wouldn't have included the 70D and 1Dx:

The Canon EOS 7D, EOS 60D and EOS 5D Mark III DSLRs feature an iFCL 63-zone Dual-layer Metering Sensor.

Thank you, Colin - that's in broad agreement with my understanding.

The only body that I own with iFCL metering is the 600D, and the strong weighting to the focused point has ruined some of my shots, when I'm sure that my 1D IV would have been OK. Naturally when I stated this on the 600D forum in DPReview, I was challenged - and I then couldn't find a definitive article, when I needed it....
