    EOS70D

Just got my new EOS 70D, and my initial thoughts are very positive. Just wondered what other people thought. I will post a few examples once I get familiar with it.

Yes, I was drooling as soon as I saw it's release being imminent. I've only had the 60D a year now and also have a 5D Mk II. How I'd love a 70D and 5D Mk III !!!

        Re: EOS70D

Bought my 70D last week as my retirement present to myself. At least I will now have plenty of time to learn how to use it properly ! (Moving from a 30D it will take a bit of learning)

Congrats to you both on your purchase, the 70D looks to be a stonking camera, almost a perfect crop-sensor machine. I look forward to seeing what it can achieve :-)

              Re: EOS70D

Was dead set on a 6D till 70D appeared. Now thinking the 70D will be wiser investment for me as I've lenses that aren't FF.

Will watch with interest for peoples images and comments.

So, who will be the first to post a 70D image?

Love to see some portraits :-)

                  Re: EOS70D

I got my 70D last week, and so far Ive been very pleased, although I am still trying out various features.
So far I am very pleased with the image quality and have found the controls to be fairly well placed and easy to find and remember.
It has handled bright sunshine and low light equally well.
I got the EF-S 18-135mm lens with mine and its seems a good everyday lens to start with.
The touch screen is surprising good and I can see myself using this more and more as I get used to options and menus, potentially a real time saver.
I like the wifi option and the link to my iPad and iPhone works well, the app could be better but its ok. This option could be very useful when i am travelling and want to review pictures.
The only negative is the usual, the provided strap! For the money paid for the camera I expected better. But have got an OpTech strap and am pleased with that, very comfortable across the shoulder.

I'll happily give more feedback in the coming weeks as I carry on using it.

I have some images in the nature/bird section which were some of my first, and I'll post some more landscape and maybe portrait pictures later on today.
                  Andy

                    Re: EOS70D

Just read the quite brief review on PCPRO. Thought the conclusion was quite interesting

In conclusion, we're bowled over by the 70D. The new autofocus system is a genuine breakthrough, especially for those who shoot video from their DSLR, while performance and image quality can't be faulted. At just over £1,000 for the body alone, it's a seriously tempting option for enthusiasts who want to sample professional-grade features. Indeed, if Canon had managed to squeeze in a full-frame sensor, we'd be talking about our new A-List winner

I've come to the conclusion that I wouldn't mind one of these myself.

                      Enjoy them.

Here is the 70D alongside my 1DX:

It is significantly lighter and lower. What is not so obvious is that is narrower as well
