    A French Village

Taken on our holiday in the Lot - Dordogne region of France and edited with Photomatix. Please excuse the lens distortion, but I quite like it on this occasion.

It was a sacrifice I decided I had to make Stan. When I altered the perspective, I lost some roof-line and it ruined the photo. It's an old building and I reckon it can absorb some distortion.

          Hi Andy,
Really like this image. Should you correct the converging verticals - I suspect different photographers will have different opinions about that - for me, it's best left as it is.

Lovely shot Andy, despite the verticals, lovely colour, light and sharpness, I like the fact that no signposts, yellow or white lines and parked cars spoil the shot, and not a Skydish in sight!!

                Regards Paul

Cheers Doug and Paul. I removed some drain covers and a couple of TV aerials.

Nice one Andy, just a thought have you tried putting your camera in portrait orientation in tight situations like this? You would have less distortion, but you obviously have to take more shots, stitch, then crop. The secret is to get your camera as level as possible, to get everything in top to bottom.

                    Papa.

Good idea Papa, I'll give that a try sometime.

There was a bus load of tourists milling around the village, at the time we visited. I grabbed the opportunity and snapped this when it was 'people free' so to speak.
