Thanks for the feedback people, all your comments are helpful.

I've a few more of these to post over the coming weeks. With the weather as it is, not much chance to get out with the camera.

Thanks again to those that came here to view this comp.

While it may not be "my" thing. I can appreciate the time and effort that went into it. Agree that it's something to have a go at when you are unable to get out and do other stuff, and anything that will improve my sad pp skills is okay with me. so how about a small tutorial. ?

Whilst 'art' isn't my thing (I normally don't pass comment on things I don't 'get' or understand) ... I do appreciate that some )original?( thought went into this, yet alone creating it. So well done on 'experimenting'.

                      Re: The Female Torch

Yeah I think that was my goal really, to take an image that really I wasn't that happy with in its original form, then add external elements to create something I was happy with. Had it been sunny I'd have been out with my non-weatherproofed camera taking macro shots of plants, as is my way :-)

So the techniques in this are very simple, just use blend modes and layer masks to pile on element after element until you get what you need. The cracks in the skin have inner and outer glows, there's some filters over the flames to create a heat effect, and the flames themselves were placed around the body using the warp tool. Other than that its pretty straightforward.

I do actually write tutorials , normally for video - I'm doing some of this in digital filmmaker magazine at the moment.
