    Extending the Canvas

A way of extending the canvas in either photoshop or elements to decentralise the subject.

Original shot courtesy of the black fox

Open image in ps or elements and increse the canvas size - Image, canvas size, input new width and height and return (doesn't matter what colour the canvas extension is)

now stretch canvas on the top, bottom and left in turn by selecting the rectangular marquee tool and dragging out a rectange.

Press ctrl and T, grab the top middle handle and drag it to the top of the new canvas. Double click and then deselect
