My mother always used to say that if you get your feet wet you'll catch your death ....

Back to the picture, lovely shot, lovely colours. I know you'll have thought about it so I'll ask a question. Why did you decide to leave so much black foreground?

              Re: A Misty Sunset

              Thanks all.

Russell, that's a good question. I do like to work to the rule of thirds when possible and I think this just about fits in with that. I also prefer to use a 3:2 ratio with my shots and I really didn't want to crop the shot and in that respect, it's exactly as I'd composed it through the viewfinder, in that it's an un-cropped image. I did consider cropping the bottom, but that meant I'd also have lost some width too.

On my monitor (calibrated), I can see detail in the darker foreground, I can see the course blades of grass and the mounds too. I feel that it adds a bit of depth to the shot.

Please keep in mind that I've only been into photography for 2 years, there will be many more folks out there, who may well present better arguments for cropping the bottom.

Looks great on my monitor Andy. Detail in the foreground to add depth. Great image young man..

Do like how you can see the mist settling onto the grasses in the foreground (reflecting the light ever so slightly.)

                      Beautiful shot.

Brave man standing in water with your camera. I'd be panicking - if ever there was a time of dropping a camera, that would be it for me.
