    600EX-RT which rechargeable batteries?

I've just pulled the trigger and ordered a Canon 600EX-RT from HDEW and it's just occurred to me that I'll need batteries too!

Can anyone recommend a particular brand of rechargeable batteries, also a suitable charger?

    Thanks

Hi Andy - I have ordered 2 sets of Eneloops 2450s for my 580s this afternoon - so that is my recommendation.

I would agree with David wrt Eneloops Andy.

As for a charger I would say the TechnoLine BL-700 LINK which is an intelligent charger, it's a bit expensive but worth it IMO.

That's great, a resounding thumbs up for the Eneloops then. I've ordered those along with the TechnoLine BL-700.

              Thanks very much folks.

Andy, another vote for Eneloops - hybrid technology means that they retain a significant proportion of their charge for ages, this is especially useful if you only use your flash occasionally :)

If you can buy them along with a battery-case, they're available seperately for around £1.99 each (less if bought with the batteries) and are very useful for storing sets of cells.

Thanks Steve. I ordered a bundle deal through Amazon. Charger + 10 batteries + 2 plastic cases. The cases do sound like a good idea.

Andy, when you get your batteries mark them in sets (two set of four in your case with two spares) this then allows you to charge and keep them as sets.

Andy, if you want to really get the most out of the batteries, the BL700 offers a test routine which you can use to charge/discharge the batteries until they reach optimal performance (this takes a few charge/discharge cycles) and you can then batch similarly powerful cells into sets of four. I can't imagine this actually makes a great deal of difference and isn't something I do, but I know some users swear by the technique!

Good idea. I had read, on another forum, that sometimes the 600 can misbehave when inserting batteries, and recycling can help overcome this.

With my 600EX I use a selection of high capacity 3rd generation NMHI batteries. I have some 2200 mAh ones from 7 Day Shop but probably the best are the Energisers, which fit well and give good discharge curves. I might buy some Eneloop. Has anyone tried Amazon Basics (sic) NMHI - they seem to get good reviews?
