    My other half

I was trying to capture pics of my cats with my 50mm 1.8 today. Was quite successful and when I turned to Pauleen this was the look. I just yelled "Hold it!!" and this was the result.

    Just window light.

    Canon 1DMKIII
    50mm
    f/1.8
    1/200th
    ISO1600

    Pretty pleased with the result.

    Re: My other half

    What can one say?

First the obvious: ................... you've pulled well above your pay grade!

Technically: well exposed, good use of diagonals and placement within the frame for a strong composition. Nicely lit to provide effective modelling detail, but controlling the highlights and shadows effectively.

Aesthetically: A very delightful informal portrait, capturing part of her character, with the catchlights adding that extra sparkle to her already beautiful eyes. A shrewd decision to print in black and white. It adds a little timeless mystery to a shot and I also suspect that the colour of the cushion would have been distracting in colour.

Well done Paul - one to print big and hang on the wall if I'm not mistaken!

What can I say that Colin hasn't...... Nothing it's a cracker and deserves to be in large print with a white mount and black frame on your wall well done Paul

Bravo sir, a beautiful young lady captured really well.

I can't offer any critique as such as I really struggle with people shots but reading what Colin has put pretty much sums it all up (the bits I understand anyway lol)

Appreciate the awsome comments. Cant pretend i meant it. I took a few shots but this ones best. Colour version isnt bad but shes wearing a blue top and against the cream colours it didnt look right.

Agree with Colin but i find the arm a little distracting but I suppose she needed something to support her head
