My favourite way to travel - by Chiltern Railways Mainline "Silver Train". Quiet, spacious, airy, comfortable, reliable, fast and pleasant staff. Seen here coming down Hatton Bank north of Warwick on the way from Birmingham to London Marylebone -

        7D + 24-205L.

By contrast I ended up on a Virgin Pendolino the other day - cramped, crowded, claustrophobia-inducing and generally unpleasant. Yet, of course, the high proportion of the train devoted to First Class was virtually empty and looked far better. But then, Richard Branson did always seem obsessed by First Class provision and cramming others into small spaces to pay for it.

        Cheers, Chris.
        Just chuggin' along.

As I never want to be humiliated by all the great entries I see in this category I've never taken part but as it's transport this month

Here's one of last year's Torbay Express passing Hollicombe on it's descent into Paignton about a mile distant. I like the composition although I do realise the sun is on the wrong side for a 'classic' railway photo.

                  34046 Braunton - Torbay Express at Hollicombe - 08 Sep 13.jpg

BTW I now have a Flickr account and posting from that will be an improvement on the compressed images I've submitted so far. I've printed off the instructions on how to post from it but need to actually understand what they mean

                  Cheers,
                  John

Prompted by Doglet's excellent picture, here is one of my 1973 Stingray with decals for the first release of the Pixar Cars film. My car was used to help promote the film when it first came out which it is why it is dressed up as "Lightning McQueen".

                          Re: Monthly Photography Theme- March

Some smashing images everyone, and I hope to add to them next week with a little trip I've got planned.
But at the risk of being the miserable old git in the corner (again), currently the 'rules' in the sticky state that images should be taken in the month of the theme (although to be fair it doesn't say of that year, but I guess that's implied...). My question is, do we want to loosen this to enable all these great shots to be included, and to encourage participation, or should we stick with just what is taken in the month in question?
                          Thoughts, opinions?

                            I never read the rules
I just assumed that this was the case - images that fit the theme to be taken during the month in question.
I think the rules should be adhered to - and read
