    Water Vole - wild

You can often see and shoot the water voles at the British Wildlife Centre but like with all wildlife, nothing beats the opportunity to shoot in the wild. At Arundel WWT we were very lucky to see 3 during the course of the morning but none out in the open enough for any shots. Later in the day i went back to one of the spots i had seen one and found him feeding just off the boardwalk but again behind the reeds. After watching for a little while, he came out in the open and started feeding very close, the exif shows a shooting distance of 2 metres and completely oblivious to me, he continued and at one point came closer than the minimum focus distance for the lens. An amazing experience

Very good shot Stan - I've never seen one at Arundel!

Strange coincidence, but I'm probably going there tomorrow (Sunday)! Was he near the start or the middle of the board walk? I'll keep my eyes peeled!

        Cheers Tom and Mike

We had not intended to go to Arundel at all, but we had planned to take our youngest grandson to BWC for the day. Unfortunately he threw up in the car at Chichester and again just past Arundel, so rather than risking another 40 miles to BWC, decided to go to Arundel instead and so glad we did as it is my least favourite of the WWT sites

we are off to Barnes tomorrow

the first we saw was almost at the beginning of the boardwalk on the right hand side - only got a brief view of him. The one I shot was about 2/3 the way through at a point where there is a sort of a dog leg

        good luck

Great shot as often you don't get much of a view as they scurry off.
