Re: Canon EOS 7D
@Robert Scott
Now, now no need to be angry to me why I said it was another "fake story" is because I have read another story of 'Scandisk' been found with no damage after been in the sea. "Lost at sea, found in flash"
OK (IMHO) This can't be that true for a plastic CF flashcard to have NO damage after been in a fire it's an incredible story but someone had to write it or be the first, So now 'Scandisk' will be happy making the first flashcard that can stand up to fire and saltwater.
@Glenn
Like I said or should have said (IMO) thanks for the link to the incredible story.Last edited by Michael.K; 06-02-2011, 14:56.

I don't think anyone from Sandisk was logged-on, so we probably got away with it.

I had a read of Lost at sea, found in flash and didn't realise that SanDisk has in the past produced industrial memory cards for use in aerospace projects and heavy industrial equipment.

Re: Canon EOS 7D
Sorry all but hate to discent - I had 3 7Ds, the first two went back within a week, the 3rd I persevered with to my eternal regret until I'd had enough. Problem for me was mushy images/poor IQ and I couldn't seem to get round the problem - it seemed to me as though there were too many pixels crammed onto the small sensor. Some may say it's user or lens error but with a selection of great L series glass which I've successfully used on the 5D, 40D and 1D mk3 I tend to blame the camera!! Personal opinion - shoot me down for this - is that APS-C IQ was at its peak on the 40D, a camera I loved and would probably still have if I hadn't successfully proven while pursuing that otter shot that DSLRs and saltwater don't make for a happy union!

Re: Canon EOS 7D
I have owned and used my 7D almost daily October 2009. I agree that it has too many pixels, but for my wildlife photography it works brilliantly up to ISO800. Just look around the web and you will find many examples of outstanding images taken with this camera.Last edited by Ron Lander; 27-08-2011, 14:40.Ron

Re: Canon EOS 7D
I agree that the search for pixels was not necessarily the best decision, but I think you're maligning a very good camera. I tend to keep mine on MRAW and it doesn't seem to suffer the noise and image problems that many speak of, but then again I've also persevered with learning to use it. It's a tricky piece of equipment, not at all easy to use, but very effective once you've got the hang of it.Canon EOS7D mkII+BG-E16, Canon EOS 7D+BG-E7, Canon EF-S 10-22 f/3.5-4.5, Tamron Di-II 17-50 f2.8, Canon EF 24-105 f/4L IS, Canon EF 70-200 f/4L, Sigma 30mm f1.4 DC HSM 'Art', Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM, Sigma 1.4x DG, Canon Speedlight 430EX II (x2)

Re: Canon EOS 7D
I use RAW all the time and I am not knocking the 7D. Its less than a third of the price of the 1D MKIV so is tremendous value really. The only reason for me to buy a 1d would be for the better performance at >800ISO. I'll give MRAW a go.Ron
