    A couple of wrecks

I spotted these two wrecks whilst travelling around the Fort William area of Scotland. I have had a go at HDR with theses as the weather wasn't that good for capturing detail of this nature.

#1 I didn't have time to explore this to determine its name, as I was parked in line waiting for the Corran Ferry

    Exif: 5D3, 24-105 at 32mm, ISO100, f16, 1/60sec

#2 This is the Golden Harvest beached at Corpach near Fort William, sadly you cant see Ben Nevis which is hidden in the clouds in the background. I came back to this site at high tide to get some water over the pebble beach. Unfortunately it also got over the top of my wellies!

This is a mix of two images which I then converted to HDR

Exif: 5D3, 24-105 at 24mm, ISO100, f11, 1.5sec (NB. Not a six stop ND!) I used a circular polariser to take the glare off the water to give greater visibility of the pebbles

Nicely done Peter. I like them both, but the 2nd gets the tops for the perspective you used on that shot.

Thanks Tom, I wanted to include the foreground pebbles the water wasn't as calm as I would have liked but you've just got to manage with what's there at the time.

I like them both, but the perspective is great in the second.
The only query I have is that the second one looks a bit 'soft', is that just after posting here or a function of the processing?

The softness is probably the way I processed the two images which; to be honest was a bit of an experiment.

They're both lovely shots, well done Peter. I bet these would work well in mono too.

Thanks Andy, I try a mono conversion to see what it turns out like.

                    Re: A couple of wrecks

I've now found out some information on #1, details as follows which I found by Internet search at Trawlerphotos.co.uk the words come from a previous owner of the vessel, named "Capri" :-

She was built in Ystad Sweden in 1949 and fitted with a two cylinder Hundestadt engine of 120 HP uprated to 150 HP, ( fired up by cartridge and that was fun !!) also a Variable Pitch prop, also Hundestadt. The outboard rudder was a bit of a pain to say the least but in other respects she was a great little sea boat and it's a crying shame to see her lying on the beach like that.

Very nice photo's. I like number 2 the most. I like also the clear water on the front .. It looks like I am standing in the water ..
                      With kind regards,
