The Mongolian Yurt (tent) & the Glass Quilt

All taken with the Canon 6D + 24-105mm.

The Glass quilt is made of 49 stained glass roundals place in a woven metal screen. The four differnet colourways of the roundals give the impression of a Jerusalem cross, which represents the four ancient sites of Christianity & Pilgrimage(Alexandria,Jerusalem,Antioch & Rome). This glass quilt is housed inside the Yurt (white tent) which comes from Mongolia. The white felt, sacred in Mongolian culture, makes the yurts look like pearls in the vast landscape of the steppe. They are the homes of nomads, eternal pilgrims throughout the world.

The Yurt and the glass quilt is making a pilgrimage around all the Welsh Cathedrals. It has already been to St.Davids,Bangor, and now St.Asaph and leaves St.Asaph on 12th August and moves on to Brecon,St.Woolos and finally to Llandaff Cathedral from Nov 2014 to 6th Feb 2015.

Thanks Peter. I should have mentioned that I found sitting inside the Yurt was very cooling and refreshing these last few hot days!!!!!! I am sure that the Nomads also found these yurts very cooling in the hot desert.

Nice. The 6D is working well in the low light.

Thanks Andrew. Yes, it is one of the best points of the 6D. I used auto ISO to get the flashless shots of the Glass quilt

If I had to pick a fave it would be the one with the light streaming through the coloured glass.

Thankd Di. Iwanted to show the quilt without any light streaming through as well and one with natural light lightening up /streaming through the glass quilt.
