    King Edward II - but which one... if any !

    Moved away from planes to trains

    King Edward II was restored to running order in 2011 after a 20 year project. The King class of engines were the most powerful steam-locos on the Great Western Railway, and for a period, the most powerful in the country.

    At 85 years old; it looks superb; but, I can't make up my mind which of the processing options I like best, so I need your votes PLEASE!

    1. Colour original...

    2. Straight monochrome conversion to B+W...

    3. Selenium tint...

    4. Sepia tint...

    Thanks in advance...

    Cheers;

    Lee

    Its the black and white version for me. Seems to sit nicely with the age of the train.

      Colour for me as you keep the contrast of the reds and golds, these are lost in the conversions.

              Sepia for me, however if you didn't start with an excellent color image the none of the others would of worked

                  All have their merits and are excellent images however on this occasion the colour shot works best for me.

                      Hi guys;

                      MANY thanks for your comments...

                      I guess I'm not surprised that the colour version wins the vote; it's a highly attractive loco in this scheme, and, being nice & shiny, I think there's a natural tendency to the colour image... ...but, if the colour version wasn't there, wouldn't it (the colour) be less of a 'distraction'? Methinks that the monochrome images give a better sense of 'age' and 'detail', because the eye is less distracted by the vivid colour...

                      Jury's still out for me; still can't make up my mind; such are the downsides of the processing power we have today!!!!!

                      Cheers;
