Does look a bit soft, as you say. Would that have been manual focus?

      Re: Whitethroat

Yes it was manual focus, but I have to say the original is sharper. I think Im loosing something in the upload. Can't quite figure out the best size, resolution etc...

Hi r.rogers i have the same problem as you, when i upload a photo the IQ goes and never looks as good, maybe its because i always upload with an attachment and not through insert picture as the photos always look better when i see theirs but i havn't got a clue how to insert a photo in that way maybe some one could explain how for the both of us ?

If you use the attachment on this site it reduces the file size, which in turn hurts the quality...

Join photobucket, it's free! upload your images there first. When you start a new post on here type out your description then go to photobucket and copy the htlm code of the image and paste it on to your new thread... No need to use attachments just paste it under your description...

When you hold your mouse over the image in photobucket a drop down menu will appear at the bottom of the image with 4 htlm codes, it's the last one, begins with... img...

          Hope this makes sense...

          Regards.

            Re: Whitethroat

Another tip, if it looks sharp before uploading ............. it isn't sharp enough!

Whatever your sharpening settings are to look good on your screen, use the same settings again before you upload. They will look awful on your screen, far too sharp, but it will compensate for the quality you lose from the upload and it will look about right when the rest of us see it.

My suggestion about doubling your settings (using the same settings twice) is a good starting point, you can make a few adjustments over the next few uploads until you are happy.

            Hope that helps.
