            Odd.. maybe worthwhile doing a search to see if other forums are having this issue with VB

                Please don't shout.

                Also, be aware that I do not spend all my time on the forum and do not read every post. You have my email address if you want to send a message for my attention (I prefer an email to a forum private message).

                If I had a fix I would have applied it a long time ago. The problem is that the issue only seems to affect a few people and even then not all the time. There have been many images successfully uploaded over the last few days. This makes it very difficult identify and correct the fault.

                  Have you tried checking the VB forum Robert - I'm guessing its not a user problem but a bug in VB

                    Sorry boss.

                    Left caps on and didn't check - will check in future.

                    Agree with Ian - has to be a VB / template / server issue as this is the only forum with the problem.

                        maybe time to pull someone in that can advise you on the forum then as I'm sure thats where the issue is - and no thats not me, I know my way about the back end but pulling it apart is a another thing

                          I've tried that. So far, no one has been able to identify the problem.

                            Thanks for all your efforts trying to sort out this problem - it must be maddening for you, as is all technology when it won't work properly! I am an intermittent sufferer from 'php', and it seems to have no rhyme or reason, except for being worse at night.
                            The Forum is interesting and educational and your work in organising it is appreciated!

                              Giving up... this is becoming a nightmare!

                              I've tried several times this morning to post new thread; all result in the dreaded newthread error. All my previous ploys to get around this have failed today. If I don't get 'newthread' then all I get when I hit 'post' is the timer icon which clicks around for a few seconds and then disappears without posting!!!!!

                              If it's relevant, when I also initially surf to the Forum home page, I frequently only get the top section displayed, and have to click 'Forum' again to make the other sections open & display!
                              Cheers;

                                something that may help Robert pin this down is when you get the error post up your details - ie browser (version), time, image size, where posting from ( flickr/ direct upload/ hoisted) and your ISP, some or all of these things could be an issue. Problem is the only way this will get sorted is with a VB engineer and he will need access to the forum logs and information when the error happened - its not an easy bug to find
