    Tutorials for Lightroom and Photoshop?

I'm a long time Aperture user, but with Apple stopping updates to the software, I subscribed to Adobe's Creative Cloud for Photographers and now have Lightroom and Photoshop.

Anyone out there recommend any decent video turiorials to get me up and running with both?

I'd start with the ones on the Adobe website.

try http://www.anthonymorganti.com/ for LR - he's got about 40 plus up, starting with the basics upwards - although if your new to lightroom get your head around the meta data / organising features quickly as you'll regret not understanding this - A very good video is Tim Greys one and its 2 hrs long ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wm6OroP6CAU

I'll second that tip, I have been watching his YouTube videos this week and they are very good.

Another vote for Phlearn, brilliant guy but can get heavy at times.

Serge Ramelli is worth a look for LR.

Re: Tutorials for Lightroom and Photoshop?

I think the tutorials make a good foundation, however, once you get passed them you realise that there was a reason you couldn't find many. You need to find out what you want to do with an image first before you learn how to do it. Editing seems to be different for everyone. In fact it's even more important in wedding photography where some clients will actually pick you based on how your pics look.

A lot of guys do the split toning of light blue or magenta shadows and warm toned highlights with a washed out film look and that's fine but you might want a totally different look to your images. I found that learning what the tools do can go a long way in helping you create something out of nothing.

If you ever want to ask silly questions about stuff I dont mind answering them. I'm not a pro in either software but I'm in them everyday doing something or other to keep the brain active :)

I must admit when I read that this was two hours long, I was not going to bother, but I am so glad I have just watched this one. For anyone new to Lightroom, I really recommend this as it covers the importing and structuring of your file system and photos. Watching this made me realise that it is some important that if you have started using LR to sort your files, not to go in and use file explorer or anything else to move things around - a huge mistake I had done - so much so that Id stopped using LR as was afraid of it.

In particular, I hadnt noticed when importing you can get LR to make a copy to a network drive at the same time, so you have got your back up sorted out - I used to import through DPP into folders then wait whilst I copied across to my network folder.

Now though I am now completely starting a new catalog, importing all my pictures and sticking with LR.

On top of that I have watched a couple of the anthony morganti ones and will be making sure i watch all of this series just to get an idea of what options are available within LR to amend photos etc.

That's a very generous offer, I'll try and remember that next time I'm struggling with a process.

Re: Tutorials for Lightroom and Photoshop?

I've watched a few of Tim Greys videos now Andy and that one on organising files and meta data is very good and started me off importing images and putting the meta data in - the sooner you start the better as I had 3 yrs worth of photos to go through, but now in few clicks i can find any image - but anthony morganti offers a good starting point on basic editing -

For Photoshop I'd suggest the Missing manual book (on paper).
