Re: Lightroom - Getting to know it

Just getting to grips with LR myself. I do like the single Catalog concept, independent of where your images are actually stored, and the new integration with DxO Optics is important for me. Also, the seamless integration and use of the catalog with Elements 10 (which I still use) is good.
I just have to get into the habit of moving files in LR, rather than outside the program, otherwise you get lots of question marks! lol

yeah I made that mistake at first wondering why all my photos had question marks - I didn't know if it was some type of automated review and lightroom was saying fail / delete

Re: Lightroom - Getting to know it

I think it's almost a mindset change using LR, of 'going there first' to move, organise and edit? I have also tried importing directly to LR from my CF card via a cardreader, and it works very well. It achieves both objectives, namely physically copying them from the card to the hard-drive AND and adding them to the catalog. Looks like LR will be the first thing I open/use in the future.
I haven't used the Develop module much yet, as I'm a bit 'late to the party' for LR, and moved from DPP to DxO recently, but the new plug-in for LR makes tranfering images from LR to DxO for editing then back again a cinch. Maybe with time I'll master processing in LR, it's just having the time to learn a new process.
The only 'problem' I've had with LR is that my monitor is a little small and I'm finding working with it hard - time for an upgrade I suppose lol
