    First wedding done

So I did my first wedding on the 5th Oct. I did it as a favour to one of my work colleagues as his sister was getting married but couldn't afford a "pro". I was a little apprehensive about doing it at first but once I had met with the couple and made sure that they were fully aware that this would be my first wedding and that I am not a professional wedding photographer they were more than happy to instruct me to photograph their big day.

It is true that photographing a wedding is stressful, hectic but most of all I found it fun. The bride and groom have now seen the photos and love them, which is the main thing. I learnt a lot about the process and the capabilities of my 40D. I used a flashgun throughout the day for fill flash and on the evening had to up the ISO to 640 and the camera handled it very well with me only having to apply very small amounts of noise reduction.

here are a couple of shots from the day

This one was taken at ISO 640 shutter speed 1/80 and I think f3.5 and fill flash bounce off the ceiling

I did have a backup setup with me just incase but fortuneatly I didn't need it. It was a long day 9am until about 9pm. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat I loved it.

There are more photos from the day on my website feel free to have a look

Well done. I imagine it's a stressful thing to do first time out, but great when you know you have achieved the goal

It was stressful leading up to it but after the first couple of hours I started to relax and enjoy the day and the challenge

Well done Paul. I'd love to have the opportunity myself. Did you change lenses throughout the day or stick to one?

I just kept the 17-50 on and if it wasn't long enough I just moved my feet. I did think about using my prime manual focus lenses but I decided not to risk it.

                      Well done Paul.
Stressful, hectic - very true and you are run off your feet all day but when you get home and review the shots you think to yourself, " I enjoyed that".

                      At least that's my experience.

                      Bill.
