    Does this work?

I've been having a go at creating a composite image using two individual images. That in itself is a challenge for my PP skills.
Whilst I'm reasonably happy with the first attempt I would value your thoughts on the composite, with suggestions on what I could do to improve this.

#1 The composite does it work?

#2 First individual image, this is a crop to loose some of the two figure in the background please ignore the noise in this one.

#3 second individual image again a crop from the raw file

the only thing I'm struggling with a bit is the OOT grass between the two dogs, if that was sharp I think it would work a lot better - obviously ignoring the fact you've chopped the paws on the first dog

      Re: Does this work?

First, well done for having a go at this as you've done a pretty good job.

The composite doesn't quite work, not because of your work but due to the depth of field in the image. This means the dog now in the foreground is sharp but the grass it's suppose to be running on isn't.

Also sometimes it can look like the added element stands out a bit. An old dodge is to flattepn the image and use the blur tool (not too harsh) on the edge of the added element. It should then look more like part of the image.

I agree, the depth of field doesn't follow the rules. For both dogs to be in focus I'm expecting the grass between them to be too.

It is good processing but apart from what has already been mentioned, the rear dog is too small in relation to the one at the front given from the positioning , they are not that far away from each other

I wonder if this video from Phlearn might help. It kind of covers what you are trying to achieve.

Today we cover how to duplicate an object and position it anywhere while matching the perspective. We use the Horizon to help define our vanishing points.

Thanks everyone some great feedback [emoji106]having watched the video in Alan's link I shall do some rework to transform the rear or both hounds and see what I can do to fix the DOF issue with the foreground. Watch this space, thanks again.

He does make it look so easy for sure. I like the way he explains things though, albeit I watch them many times over so it kinda sinks in.

                      Re: Does this work?

Well I've watched the video again and this is my first rework attempt.
I think this one is an improvement, the hound on the left has a much bigger frame that Inky on the right so I'm reasonably happy with the transformation of the hound on the left.

                      Does this version work?
