A bit of a drip really!

What does any self respecting adventurous photographer do on a boring Saturday morning - well he goes into the kitchen of course and cook up an experiment...........

How many sugar lumps did you get through? This is where the concept of an ir gate would be useful. Something that I have spent some time on for our flyball timing, that could easily be ported to photography use.

Particularly liked nš 3- good lighting on the tip of the drop and an eerie Leg splash.

BTW this is (probably!) better than your ghostly BIF

Not a bad attempt using very basic equipment. You need a splashart kit gels and 2 or 3 flash guns to do it properly

Ball bearings! How many cups did you smash lol.

They look a little under exposed for me.

They were probably more like lead shot then bearings - 2mm each and I'd wrap a few in cling film - had fun experimenting with big and small splashes..

The background was or is just a black t-shirt draped over the sink (used the sink as I started this using the tap and a glass of water, not very successfully) and lighting was from the window above, the kitchen bulb and a head torch on the faint beam - the strong beam was too strong.

After looking at others splashes I see using speeds of between 750 and 1000 is a tad excessive, so that probably made them under exposed as I used a white piece of paper to gain focus for potential splashes and also tried to use as high a field of depth as possible to keep the wide spread in focus. Using speeds under 200 would make this more feasible I guess.

                cheers Paul
