Aw, shucks, Stan, that is amazing !

Can ordinary mortals like me do this in PS Elements or is there more (apart from skill, patience, artistry etc ) that you use ?

Although I did this in photoshop, most of what I used is available in Elements - layers, masks, cloning etc but to make the spiral effect I have a photoshop action which makes things simpler. The centrepiece is the easiest to do, being just the one "spoke, duplicated 15 times and then each layer transposed and rotated to form the wheel
