    Black & White vs Colour

The version in colour I have posted in another thread. And there was a suggestion to put the photo in B&W.

So here do you see the two versions, what do you think?

Black and white for me. But in fairness, it's not a particularly captivating image.

I would also agree with Andy.

I think using f/1.8 on a landscape shot was a bit odd. I'm hovering over whether a person standing bang in the middle would have looked better.

A wee tip if using LR, to always correct for chromatic aberration (purple and green edges around dark and light areas) It cleans up the image great. It's also something that can turn a muddy image into something worthwhile as it appears all over an image and not just on the sky. So many times I see it, and it ruins a shot.

The image has a creepy Blair Witch feel to it, but maybe putting in subject matter would add to it nex time. A doll hanging from a tree, or a person with their back to you. Loads of options. I'd say the image was more of a backdrop to something else than a strong image on it's own. :)

I know it was a strange choice to shoot a landschap with a 50mm f/1.8 lens on a cropcamera, with a 800 ISO. In mind I had put the 10-18mm on the camer before I went for a walk, but it was the 50mm. And the day before I did a experiment with the 800 ISO. So I was al the way clicking. And it was that day very sunny and bright. And at home, and I put the foto's on the laptop ... And I was think Sh*T! What have I done!

Good lesson for the next time.

That's what it's all about, experimentation, and if you're continually looking back at your old shots and disliking them then it's a measure of improvement.

Ah yes, this was your "mistake" in colour that we can now see in B&W.

Looks rather uninteresting in B&W, IMHO.................................but to be fair it wasn't too memorable in colour. Sorry!

I love your lesson there Paul, and I am sat nodding to myself.....I shall apply that to my images starting now.
IMHO..black and white is the best of the 2, and I too would love a blair witch doll hanging from a tree to really set it off....
