    Red Squirrel Sprint

Went to Brownsea today to shoot.........yes, you guessed, the red squirrels. I have mentioned before that I now have so many shots, it is difficult to come up with different poses and my aim now is to get shots in motion. Quite bright but to ensure a reasonable shutter speed I put the ISO at 1600, AI servo and panning.

This one has not turned out too bad. Shutter speed 1/640. 70-200 f2.8 and 1.4x

we use hazelnuts in shell to attract them - once they are discovered they return time and again and this one was coming back for more at the end of the log

Nice timing Stan. Could it do with just a little more saturation? Looks a bit light on my iPad, but could be me!

Great action shot - almost looks like he could be related to a kangaroo in that pose.

                    Re: Red Squirrel Sprint

Stan, great image, and you've nailed a very different pose to the classic. Great that you've caught both tail and ears streaming behind giving a great sense of movement yet it is still sharp.

                      looks Ok on my screen

unlikely in this bit of the woodland but I did try for the leap between two logs but they are so fast I didn't have sufficient shutter speed - but that is the one to try and crack next time out

yes obviously why they are not widespread throughout the UK. There are no greys on Brownsea and being an Island they cant get across from the mainland either so the reds are quite safe
