I have no idea what it is, I just loved the colours, taken at Tropical Birdland on Easter monday.. Was taking my 70-200MML 2.8 and going for handheld, so I left my monopod etc at home..... to open my bag and find my 100-400L staring back at me........ Arrrrrrgggghhhhhhhh

Re: It's a green parroty looking tropical thing
the bird does seem a tad under and the background isn't helping much - with a little PP work I think you could pull a nice shot from this
also know what you mean about the lens - I did it the other way round on a recent trip where I needed a long lens and had the 70-200 looking at me ....those lenses look too similar ;o(:- Ian

Re: It's a green parroty looking tropical thing
The bird is too dark, the background messy and the composition awkward - never have the subject looking out of the frame. With some pp, lifting the shadows, content aware fill and cloning and a crop you can turn it into a more acceptable shot

( yet again the direct upload has lost detail and desaturated the bird but it gives you an idea)

Re: It's a green parroty looking tropical thing
what a transformation
although I prefer stans composition as I wouldn't put the parrot right in the middle ...but still massive improvement:- Ian

Re: It's a green parroty looking tropical thing
I'm pretty sure that's a Schalow's Turaco. I shot one (photographically speaking!) at Marwell last week. Good edit Tony.Russell
