    Sri Pada (Adam's Peak) Climb

Last month I posted a single image taken from the top of Sri Pada (Adam's Peak) in Sri Lanka. Thought I would expand on that a bit with some other images of this place.

    Thanks for looking
    Scott

This is where we will be going. Taken from the balcony of our accommodation the evening before, you can just make out the buildings on the summit.

The lead in the start of the climb is bizarre. Full of stalls selling ... well, pretty much everything you don't need to take up a mountain :)

Since most people start the climb early enough to see the sunrise they have illuminated the 5,500 steps. At one point when I looked up I couldn't make out where the lights stopped and the stars began.

Pre-sunrise. This was when I had to abandon my attempt to capture the sunrise as there were just too many people jostling me as they got in position around me. At one point someone even used one of the legs of my tripod to pull themselves into a better position.

And this is what I really wanted to see anyway. The pyramid shaped shadow cast by the mountain as the sun rises is an incredible sight ...

                Thanks Dave, Chris & Nat.

For anyone interested there are loads of Sri Lanka images on my flickr pages - not all landscape - more like a travelog of an interesting country recovering from years of civil war.

Love the last of your set Scott. There is a curious pyramid shadow bottom left though

Thanks Alan. Err ... that "curious pyramid shadow" is the point of the image. It is the shadow that is cast by the mountain as the sun rises. There are more of images of this on my flickr pages.
