Don't need to go there, just buy grey. Whichever method, Canon probably won't give it a UK warranty.
It's this "differential market pricing" that's so annoying, why do they think people in EU countries are richer than elsewhere?

There is grey in the Philippines but 8 out of 10 times grey is cheaper in HK.

I had my 200D sent from HK, saved 35% on the price here and I'll buy from the same people next time I want something. I'm tired of the price fixing here where every official supplier is forced to charge the same high price.

They have drastically different overhead, duties and taxes.

In the Philippines our VAT is 12%. I know the UK is 20%. In HK there is no sales tax whatsoever.

Seeming HK is a major international port imports tend to be more economical and faster moving.

But even after 20% VAT is paid here, the price imported from HK is still much lower than the fixed price from UK official suppliers.
If something is $1,000 in the USA then it will be £1,000 here, although our pound is still worth much more than a dollar. Again, after allowing for tax differences, US buyers still pay considerably less than we do for the same product. Here Canon (and others) maintain a cosy relationship with their approved suppliers so that both make large profits on each sale. This should be illegal according to both UK and EU competition laws and I don't know how they get away with it.
At present, you can buy a brand new 5D MkIII or 6D, for example, on the grey market for less than the price of a used one here. To me, it's obvious which is the best choice.
Grey market sales are perfectly legal, the suppliers simply buy stock outside the UK at a lower wholesale price and make a smaller profit margin on each sale than UK approved suppliers.

This difference in prices interests me too so I did a comparison. The price of a Fuji 35mm f2 lens from B&H Photo picked up from their store in NYC, so with no shipping, is 488.85 usd. In sterling that’s £370.58. Price on Amazon is less than that but add shipping and it goes up to £354.99 so a difference of £15 give or take. So I don’t think the 1000 there is a 1000 here is universally true - if it was the price would be £488.85 - but clearly there are differences for the grey importers which appear are far are greater...
EOS 7D mk II, Sigma 150-660C, Canon 17-85 EF-S, Tamron 10-24 and a wife who shares my obsession.

Some Canon products can be a little cheaper from Amazon UK, but many are the same price as the other UK suppliers e.g. the 6D2 body seems to be £1,849 wherever you look. I don't expect the price of branded goods to be exactly the same in every supermarket, they are free to make special offers on price whenever they want to, and photographic stores should have the same freedom. If a UK (or EU) official supplier offered an unapproved discount on a Canon product, Canon UK would refuse to supply them. To me that is retail price maintenance which was made illegal here in 1966, and is now covered by EU Articles 101 and 102.
The grey market in the USA is bigger than here as they also believe they are overcharged. Canon (and others) have tried several times to make grey imports illegal to the USA and the EU but in every case the courts have rejected their claims.
Free competition is always good for consumers.
