No 2 does not work for me.
I like the beach tree - a nice holiday brochure picture - although I would probably have taken the boat out.

Very nice set, you might want to level the horizon in the 2nd image

        Re: barbados

Nicely done but horizons need levelling.

agree the horizon needs sorted on both

I really like the first but its looking too over sharpened ? something isn't right which is a shame as its a lovely shot

yes, the horizons on both pictures need sorting. i know what you mean about the tree. the camera was only 5 megapixels should it be able to resolve all those twigs?
when i was moving the sharpness slider it seemed to be either like the above or mushy.

a 5meg shot should be fine, has it been cropped? ... Have you pushed the contrast very much ?

                Re: barbados

i cropped it a bit but might have overdone the sharpness and contrast.
these new two images have been straightened. the tree had a bit of sharpeness applied and small crop, but the twigs look blurry. if i sharpen much more they start to look false

maybe it's my eyesight, monitor or whatever but the twigs look blurry to me.

maybe better to be a tad blurry than over sharpened and looking odd

The edited version of the first shot looks much better, in fact just right
