            no, the minimum focus distance is no good for this sort of thing - when I am out looking for bugs, butterflies or dragonflies, I take my 300 f4 and converter and Canon 100 f2.8 L IS macro and it is the latter used to shoot these

                    love the clean background on the second.
                    that one is shot from ground level but the other one, the caterpillar was on a fern much higher so could only blur the background detail a bit
