    What laptop do you use

Starting to have issues with my Toshiba Sat. I don't run a lot of software I don't have photo shop I use serif but my system keeps telling me I have insufficient memory. I upped it to 8 gig but now know it makes no difference. On this point what laptop works for you or does this effect others and is there a way around it.

Im thinking of upgrading my i3 Toshiba Sat as not too sure if it will work effectively with CC or Lightroom as its not that fast with Elements 13 (used to be fast with version 11) so as a matter of interest Stan which one did you go for as theres a few i5 which Toshiba produce

For my laptop I use a Mac Pro with Retina Display and a iMac for my Desktop. When I got laid off from corporate america in 2010, I jettison all my windows and went to Apple and like Ian, have never looked back.

            2009 vintage Macbook Pro (4Gb RAM and a 250Gb HDD) and a 2015 iMac desktop (8Gb RAM and a 1Tb HDD).

The Macbook has just begun to suffer from "bulging battery", but as it's six years old and used for several hours every day, I really can't complain - new battery on order.

Never had a problem with either - I use Lightroom, Photoshop (CC), have around 130Gb of photos external HDDs.

I'm using a 2011 Core i5 MacBook Air with 4GB of RAM and 256GB of disk - 128GB built in and 128GB on a plugin in the SD card slot. Just upgraded to El Capitan and it's like it's had a new lease of life. I run lightroom and keep current shots on the laptop and an archive on a Synology NAS.

I use an 11" Mac book air.....it works brilliantly but the screen is a bit small so I would recommend the 13" or pro version. I travel a lot so for work the 11" is otherwise ideal on planes and trains.....I use a 27" Mac at home. I've found that Windows machines eventually slow down whereas macs don't, at least not as much if at all. I swapped over in 2011. Twice the cost but cheaper in the long run unless you're really diligent and manage your Windows machine and keep it free from all the malware, bugs and hidden tail ends of programs and stuff you don't want or need.

Mine is an L50 but I think running CC or lightroom is more to do with the processor and memory than anything else. Before buying I checked out the requirements for running CC and it seemed to fit the bill. I was working to a budget but if I were buying now I would probably go for an i7

I started using Macs with the old iBook that came out in 2002 ish and my last upgrade was to an Air in 2011... It came with Mountain Lion installed and was good enough. Then along came Mavericks and it just got faster. It was astonishing that a new OS was actually faster and more usable on the same laptop. Yosemite gave me problems - crashes and random shutdowns - so I skipped over it and am now on El Capitan. And again, it's a speed improvement over Mavericks. So my four year old laptop is now faster and more usable than it was when I bought it and I've not had to pay a penny for the privilege.

I'd say that's not something you'd see in the windows world, though moving from Windows 8.1 to 10 on my tablet was painless and I've seen no performance degradation so perhaps Microsoft have got something right at last.

We have the HP Pavilion 17-g025nd: 17,3 inch screen, Core i5-5200u / 8GB / 1TB. We use it for all the common stuff: e-mail/internet and I have PSE 13 on it, and it works great!

After having various Dell, HP & Toshiba machines (laptops & desk top), my current d/t and (recent) l/t came from PC Specialist. Their site allows you to build and price your machine to your own preference and, IMHO, at a reasonable price.(www.pcspecialist.co.uk/)

                        Worth a look!

Although I have an i3 based Acer laptop, I don't use it for any photo or video editing, but more of a general purpose, 'sit in the armchair' PC. In fact, just as I'm using it now.

For image editing, I much prefer to sit at the desk, and use my i7 based PC, with 12Gb of DDR3 RAM, plus a 22" monitor.
