    Crazywell Star Trails

The result of my aborted attempt at doing star trails from Tuesday night. It turned out better than I'd expected. There wasn't much in the way of colour apart from the foreground grass and some light pollution giving the sky an orange tinge hence the mono conversion.

Nice shot with a good foreground subject

How long did you manage to stay out, not the nicest of thing to have to stand in the cold and dark listening to the camera firing away but worth the effort.

I camped there overnight! Unlike my last attempt though I couldn't pitch right next to the cross. I walked in in the dark with a head torch, map & compass - it's pretty easy to find in daylight not quite so simple at night as you can't even see the cross from the pool, let alone the nearest track.
Put the tent up, had a few shots and then set up for the time-lapse. I intended to let it run for 3 hours or until the battery died and just fall asleep but after an hour I noticed that it wasn't firing as I'd wanted it to so decided to stop. Then got up before dawn to do the sunrise. Unfortunately the weather forecast is pretty drab for the foreseeable future. I also fancied shooting the Gemini's but they were a bit of a let down and also much higher in the sky.

Not really, I liked hiking and camping before I liked photography.

Cheers Guys. Cloudy, rainy, crappy weather forecast until after Christmas so I don't expect to get another go this year.
