    Cross Polarisation

This is something that I have not tried before as I thought it was a bit complicated but there is an article showing quite a simple way of doing it in the new edition of Practical Photography so thought I would give it a try

Start by creating a plain white image in PS and then save it to an I pad or similar tablet. Pop out to the 99p store and get a pack of plastic cutlery and arrange on the I pad.

Set the camera above and rotate your circular polariser until the tablet screen turns black and the wonderful metallic colours appear - although I got the vibrant colours, in fact my screen did not go black so had to sort that in post processing

A simple project to try on a rainy day, provided you have a tablet and a circular polariser

me too but this method is so easy provided you have a circular polariser. If you don't have access to a tablet, a laptop screen folded down horizontal will work too, in fact might be even better as you would have a bigger working area

especially if it rains. With the screen just remember it needs to be white - either do a completely white canvas in photoshop or open a new notepad doc which will fill most of the screen
