    Spinning Burning Steel Wool

Monday night at camera club we were out under a a bridge capturing images of spinning burning wire wool.
In hindsight i should have dropped down to 10sec instead of 15sec exposure, but its all about learning.
Here are a few of my images from the night...

I so want to try this every time I see a post like this. Of the set I like the last one best because of the vortex effect and the offshoots. A brave spinner! I think personally the exposure works quite well.

    Nicely done,

Good set, especially like the last 2 - with the 'frame' effect of the bridge exit, and the vortex.

If you do this again, ask the 'spinner' to wear black, and to cover their face!

      Well done, Mike

Ideal location, my preference is the third shot but with a slight crop on both sides, just to keep the interest inside the form of the bridge.

Thanks very much, I appreciate you looking.
The vortex was achieved by him walking towards us, it was the last shot f the evening and you definitely want to be in non-flammable clothing! The vortex looked good from different angles so between the different club members we got some interesting shots.

Thats a good comment on the face, he was in black and wearing a hat but i'll suggest a balaclava for the next session.
He worked very hard spinning the stuff round, he definitely deserved the pint i bought him afterwards.

I cropped quite a bit, I did think about cropping tighter but liked the bits spilling of to the side.
But, its worth another look to see. Thanks for the comment.

I would definitely not do this at home!
It's definitely an activity for outdoor spaces with lots of room.

An excellent set Andy. Seen the shots of this genre many times, but never found a willing spinner

Alan, a few of the guys at camera club have taken it in turns to spin.

Andy, excellent set, that must have been great fun; my favourite is the last, both because of the 'tunnel' effect and because the spinner is less visible. Everyone earned their beer that night!

One of my friends from camera club got a great version of the last image, she had the "vortex" head on and it looks cracking.
