Reed Bunting on a new perch

In the woodland at Warnham they tend to spread seeds over most of the tree stumps, which doesn't make for a natural shot - almost as bad as shooting birds on feeders, so when this male reed bunting perched to feed, I thought he would make a good exercise in changing the perch

    nearby was a fallen log

So with both images open in photoshop, I first made a selection of the log using the quick selection tool, then feathered by 5 pixels before copying and then pasting the selection onto the bird image

Using the move tool I positioned the log over the stump and then adding a layer mask with the brush tool set to black, painted the birds legs back in

All that was needed now was to crop for composition before sharpening and save

      Cheers Dave

It took a bit of a while to sort and really only planned the shots in case I didn't get any further shots of the bunting. As it happened I did get a few more later on but mainly of the female
