I bought a cheap one from Ebay, it works fine, although I do remove the batteries when not in use (I vaguely recall reading somewhere that they can drain). http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-MC-36R.../252070010262?

I bought a cheap third party grip for my 50d which had a wireless release built in. I later picked up a genuine grip for it as the third party one doesn't report the battery status properly but it's handy for the remote release.

Do you have a smart phone? If so you can use the EOS Remote app as the 6D has Wi-Fi

Mine is also a cheap setup cost about £18 from Ebay.
Ps - Below is a copied post i did just after christmas but shows it set up and working.

Here's what santa brought to me.
A mini tripod and a trigger hahnel remote control.

Set up attached and working fine takes the weight of camera and lens no problem.
