My first outing with the Macro

Looks like a few members are starting to get out and about with their Macro lenses.
So i had a trip out with Oscar along the river bank to see whats creeping around in the undergrowth.

A few shots of the insects i found,All taken with 5D/100 macro/+fill in flash.

      Hi Ian

Yes just normally mounted on top of camera,I alway like to use flash when taking Macro just to give the image a lift and remove any shadows as it's quite dark when you're lurking in the undergrowth lol.
On this occasion I just set the camera to P Mode which set the shutter to 1/200sec for the flash and if i needed smaller f number for more DOF i just upped the iso accordingly.

Thanks for the info Stan there was a few different coloured Damsels about, but no Dragonflies yet not that i could see and only a very few Mayflies flying up and down as they do.
I think in a few weeks time it will be better but then i also tend to get eaten alive by all the bugs.

Never had that problem with shadows either from the front or the rear of the main subject, though i can see that happening in certain situations.

                      Thanks Alan

The Orange tip and a speckled wood is the only butterflies i came across but no chance with the speckled wood as it stayed in the bramble bushes a bit too far away but the Orange tip eventually settled a few times allowing me to get some shots so was grateful for that.

Gets me away from shooting sport and the dog gets the walk of his life so we're both happy.
