I had a few days in Washington DC last week, here are a few images; nothing spectacular but they all happen to be of memorials because, coincidentally, it was Memorial Day in the USA over the weekend. You may already have seen my picture of the US Marine Corps memorial (Iwo Jima) in the current Challenge thread, this is the side of the memorial that most closely represents the famous Joe Rosenthal photograph:

Also near the Arlington cemetery is a memorial bell tower called the Netherlands Carillon, presented to USA by the Netherlands in recognition of the support provided during and after WW2. The tower is very industrial in style so suited a slightly stark and gritty processing:
