    The Wedding

After the couple have allowed me to post some pictures from their big day I now post here for you to view. Be as critical as you wish as this is a huge learning curve for me.

It was always an informal day of shooting and nothing too staged. This is a very small selection of 300 pictures that I gave to the happy couple

          Nice set.

Just a couple of tiny things I'd clean up though, there are couple of dust flecks on the inside of the top loop on the ribbon in image #1, and the spot (I hope it's not blood :0 ) on the linen between the couples hands in image #5. Also in image #5 there is something cutting across the forearm near the top of the image, I'm guessing it's from the groom's boutonniere. The flower is alright but that little bit of foliage that cuts across the forearm is somewhat distracting.

And I just notice a spot on the wall near the edge of image #4 just above the bride's hand.

the last but on though, I think you need to straighten the verticals as the couple appear to be falling over

Thanks Jonathan. All valid comments. To be honest I didn't get into the finer details as they wanted the shots back the following day! With more time yes, I would have removed more blemishes

What is that bizarre headdress on the bride in number 4 ?!
So sorry Alan and don't want to be critical....But once you've spotted it you just can't look at it the same again

Love the ribbons shot and the hands shot. Don't think the groom made it easy with those varifocal glasses

                      Re: The Wedding

One of the great strengths of this forum is that we view images through photographers' eyes, and critique is given honestly and fairly, these images for the most part will be viewed by the bride & groom and their families, and I'm sure will be chuffed to bits with them, and probably won't even notice the points that us photographers correctly point out.
The set ticks all the boxes (apart from the small niggles mentioned), you seem to have been lucky with the light, nice and soft with no harsh shadows, all crisp, clear, sharp and well exposed. The only issue I have is in image 4, there seems to be a wooden/brass ornament growing out of the brides head. Still, this is good work, and you should be pleased with your efforts.
Concentrate on equipment and you'll take technically good photographs. Concentrate on seeing the light's magic colours and your images will stir the soul. - Jack Dykinga
Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography- George Eastman

Only ever 'did' one wedding and that was as a unofficial extra without the pressure of producing the big shot (I had more of a documentary brief) so congratulations on a job well done. I imagine the bride and groom are pretty pleased with the results.

                          Re: The Wedding

I can only echo the comments already made but I take my hat off to anyone brave enough to do a wedding shoot! I've been asked a couple of times and always refuse although I'm happy to take non-formal shots at those weddings to which I've been invited. I did take more than expected at my daughter's wedding when their 'pro' let them down at the last minute (I'd declined to be the photographer at this one too). What I did for them was to gather photographs from all the guests and add them to mine before spending days processing them all. I think that in your case having to let the happy couple have theirs so soon afterwards with no time to review and edit must result in a less satisfying product for you but, as said, they'll be looking at them with far less critical eyes so will be more than happy with your efforts. Well done

                          Cheers,
                          John
