Another missed meal !

Really thought the lioness was going to make a kill on this occasion as she had crept quite close to a male Warthog , however as often happens an alert Baboon spotted her and raised the alarm at which point she knew the game was up. I managed to capture a very brief face off between the two before the hog made a rapid exit right leaving the lioness wondering what might have been.

Nice pair of encounter shots.

Thought lions generally avoided warthogs as they can be a bit vicious and the tusks capable of inflicting severe damage.

Thanks Nigel , at the time of yesr when the great migration is back on the Serengeti warthogs become much higher on the prey agenda as the numbers of Zebra and Wildebeest are greatly reduced. Also this lioness was hunting on her own as she had three new born cubs which had not been integrated into the pride so the warthog in terms of size are more attractive.
