I've seen a video of a new SD card wifi converter that works with 7DII and 5DS so you can use your phone to control the camera - similar to the functionality built into the 5D4.....could this be used with the 5D3 in any way?

Well since the 5D mark IV is the direct replacement for the Mark III and the IV comes with wifi, why would Canon allow III owners to use that feature? That's why I have and Eyefi card in my III, which is better than canon's solution because it also allows for storage.
