Am I correct in thinking the converter will make the f4 and F5. 6 ?

Yes with a 1.4x you lose a stop of light so an f4 lens becomes f5.6. A 2x loses two stops so f4 becomes f8. Your 70D will retain af with lenses that have a max aperture up to f5.6 therefor af is retained with the 1.4x but not the 2x

Stan, what does your wife think of it? Occasionally need longer than the 70-200 but can't justify the 100-400 really. This would be cheaper option

It was used over the weekend shooting powerboat and jetski racing - here is an example of what it can do - 1/2000, f8 and extended to 280mm
