    Full Moon

    My first attempt at a moon shot over our house last night

    1DX, and 7D2 ,500mmf4mkii, 300mmf2.8, 400mm f5.6 , 100mm - 400mmmk2 ,70-200mm f2.8 ,24-105mm f4, 100mm f2.8 macro , 1.4x converter, 2x converter and a big dose of luck !!

    Done at 600 mm I see, looks better still onflickr

    I'd be chuffed if I'd taken that!

          For 600 handheld I think it's a pretty good result. Personally I would have to use a tripod to get a usable image. For more striking crater shadow try outwith 3 days of full.

              Sorry - sometimes I abbreviate too much ... meant avoid 3 days before and after full moon and you will get much more crater shadow ...

                Great first attempt it's about as much detail as you can expect when a full moon.
                If you want better crater detail then try again when the moon is either 1/4 or 1/2 as the craters really standout as the light falls far better on the moon's surface.
