    Praying Mantis

Canon has created a EF-M 28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM Lens for the M series. I got that the other day and have been playing with it. It has a Macro and a Super Macro. It also has to LED Lights around the lens for Macro Photography. The super macro has a magnification ratio of .7x to 1.2x and you need to be between 9.3-11cm to focus.

Today I had a play with the lens with this Praying Mantis. I first tried it on the super-macro mode, but you were so close that the Mantis would climb onto the lens as it was curious to what was so close to him. So I had to switch back to the regular mode and got several images.

Here is one of the images and two crops of that image:

Looks quite am impressive piece of glass. Of course noise is starting to affect the detail in the last but still looks like some reasonable detail at such a large crop.

Look forward to seeing some further images as you get use to using the lens.

      Re: Praying Mantis

Looks a good result from the camera lens combo but for macro i think you would get even better results with a dedicated macro lens on one of your proper DSLR ie if i were thinking of buying a macro lens and had your choice of cameras i would go straight for the dslr option
