    Connecting EOS6D to Mac

Hi, I have recently found that my 6D will not automatically connect to my Mac using the USB.
Not sure when this began to happen. I have an EOS M3 too and that is fine?
Anyone else having the same issue please

    Re: Connecting EOS6D to Mac

Hi Paul, my Mac stopped recognising my 7D a couple of months ago when I upgraded it to El Capitan, I assume because the 7D (mark 1) is considered quite old tech now. I now use a card reader to download images, which works fine, and I know many on here do anyway.

      Re: Connecting EOS6D to Mac

I can't answer the specific question only to say that other than once for firmware update I have never, ever, directly connected any of my cameras to my PC as experience charging my phones every night has taught me that regular use of a USB socket can only end in tears. I far prefer to connect my easily replaced CF and SD cards to my PC via an equally easily replaced card reader. I have more confidence in the integrety of a camera's card socket than the nasty little hole a USB cable is slotted into.

Sorry Paul, I should have noticed and said earlier... welcome to the forum

      Cheers,
      John

I don't have a Mac but in 10 years of photography I have never connected the camera to the computer to download images, far simpler and quicker, I think, to download the card with a reader

Likewise, always used a card reader. That way it ignores the 'parent' and reads the card as just a card.

I had a similar issue a long time ago, though with a Windows PC. It was because I'd been using the wi-fi, and hadn't switched wi-fi off. Once wi-fi was off the PC found the Camera straight away.

was stated a card reader is a must ,also your mac o.s should be up to date as well ,what you don't say is what your trying to connect to is it aperture, photos,or lightroom .you can't just put a card in and expect it to know

Sometimes you have to update the EOS Utility... worth a try. I found mine gave up one time and when I updated Utility it worked fine.

                Oh, and welcome!
