    Re: What is it ?

A very nice and refreshingly different view of, perhaps, an Onion?

    Cheers,

Well obviously we just presumed the colour part!

Looks like a lot of tears in making it and a lot of time cutting it out in PS

Care to share the technique with us?

yes quite a lot of tears but no photoshop, what is posted is as shot apart from a bit of sharpening etc

Method - it is just a single slice of onion placed on my A3 lightpad (like a light box) and then the individual layers of onion prised apart and shot from overhad with my 24-105

That’s very clever. I would just crop the right hand side to make it more symmetrical.

                    The lightbox looks cool!!

I've just been looking online to see if there's an app to use on my ipad so I can use it as a lightbox . Anyone in the know on this?

Glad the led lightbox is a good idea as by sheer coincidence I had ordered one which arrived yesterday . Looking forward to trying it out. I'm also planning to make a simple frame so that I can stand it upright to make a background for a table top studio.

I have used my I pad in conjunction with a circular polariser for cross polarisation shots but I don't think the light would be strong enough as a lightbox

this is the lightpad I have, quite cheap but effective

used mine standing up as well instead of getting out my studio heads and softbox

I bought the light pad months ago following seeing an article using one with flowers but this is my own idea

Thanks for the link Stan. On reflection the A3 size is probably what most folk would want. Can only put one flowerhead on an Ipad.
