    CANON SPEEDLITE 420MK1

Some advice please from the techie guys on the forum, thinking of moving for this one ,wondered if anyone had any dealings.
Thinking of nature type shots for the autumn/winter.Not really wanting to go down macro route really.
Would be using with CANON 70-200MML NONIS with 7D/50D.
Not wanting anything top end as would not be using all the time.Understand its very light weight with a 42 GUIDE NO.
Would appreciate anyone advising as hopefully it would work for me.
    THANKS
    GEORGE.

Hello George. I would advise you to look at the Yongnuo range of flash guns. You can get a top of the range model for the price you are paying for the Canon speedlite. I know that many members use them. For a quick check look them (Yongnuo) up on Ebay and you can see new flash guns offered for sale there.

    Hope this helps.

For that kind of price,George, you can get a high quality top of the range Yongnuo speedlite, which are more or less carbon copies of Canon Speedlites. They are also brand new and not used. For about £70 you can get one which is nearer to the Canon 600RT speedlite which sells at over £300!!!!!

Have to agree with Nathaniel. There are several flash guns that will work very well with your cameras at a fraction of the cost of a Canon gun.
I have a Neewer that matches the Canon 580 for performance, will work as a master and has the benefit of a Li Ion battery that is good for around 400 full power flashes. Cost? £78

                  Re: CANON SPEEDLITE 420MK1

Having been using the Canon 420EX on board my Canon 600D wanting to move flash speedlite off camera.
Been checking a basic straight Kaiser folding grip angle bracket, this allows speedlite to sit off and above camera body, this is a cheap light metal set up but thought would allow me to shoot macro stuff.
As the 600D shoots wirelessly and having checked my initial set up with the 420EX sitting alongside 600D on its stand with everything set to EASY WIRELESS FLASH SHOOTING it works ok.
However have noticed some situations where its indicating using a ext cable cord, wondered if there was any gain in using one.
Having only a Canon 60mm Macro lens really only wanting a basic set up at present.
Perhaps have answered my own question really but would really appreciate any thoughts and feedback
                  GEORGE.
